Treasure

Many people want to store treasure here on earth, but God does warn us. After all, we do have thieves on Earth that can steal all the stuff we spent years storing up.

 Holy Bible says:

Matthew 6:19-21
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But rather store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Churches tell us it is good for us to be dirt poor. That we should not be rich men or women. That God does not want us to be rich or enjoy. OK, so that would be like the character known as Don Draper in the Netflix series seen as mad men.

However, Christ offers us a different alternative, that we can store up treasures in heaven where thieves cannot break in.

Heaven

Christ did offer a rich young man treasure in heaven, but what does that offer even mean?

God wants us to fight and not give up. The adversary tries to wear us away. Jesus knew that having a lot of money... that would certainly consume most the time of the rich young man. He would be too busy to follow Jesus and to do what is necessary.

Matthew 19:21
Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

Notice that Jesus did offer him treasure in heaven, but the rich man did not want to help the poor.  Christ adds:

Matthew 19:28
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.

God was willing to give the rich young man 100X more. That is a lot and also eternal life - wow. Please remember that the tree of life is in the paradise of God.

Revelation 2:7
"The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will grant to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’"

Let us strive to over come our sins.
