Help Others

was in church and they were talking about doing a community clean up. Atheists make fun of Christians saying that we believe in an invisible man. However, I do not see them helping the homeless or gathering cans of food for the poor.

When you believe in God, you tend to help others more. This is because we believe that God will judge us on our actions and those will determine where we spend eternity.

Obviously, people who do not believe in heaven or hell will find little comfort in helping others as they do live for now. For example, they want to eat, drink, and be merry. Here is what God says:

The Parable of the Rich Fool

Luke 12

13Someone in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

14But Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed Me judge or executor between you?” 15And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourselves against every form of greed, for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”16Then He told them a parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced an abundance. 17So he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, since I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods. 19Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!”’

20But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?’ 21This is how it will be for anyone who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.”

God Says

God tells us to help others.

Mark 9:40-41
For whoever is not against us is for us. Indeed, if anyone gives you even a cup of water because you bear the name of Christ, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.

Our Lord will reward us. That is what He says.

Notice that this was true in the old testament as well as the new.

Proverbs 19:17
One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, And He will repay him for his good deed.

The actions we have determine how God will judge us. He will repay us according to our works.

Romans 2:6
God will repay each person according to their deeds.

Therefore, we must have good works if we are to enter His celestial kingdom.

Pray that we soon live in Paradise where Christ reigns.
