Finding the Truth

How do we find the truth? That is my question for you. It is a long and arduous process. In fact, you might dedicate many years to finding the truth about a certain topic. Each truth is like a piece of a puzzle that you try to put together. After a while, you might see the big picture in the puzzle even if there are some missing pieces. It might take your whole life to find out.

Let me give you an example:

In the not so distant past, people believed in miasma -- that some diseases were caused by a fog of evil gases.  The word originated from the Greek, and this theory was refuted when men acquired more knowledge about germs and the spread of disease.

One of these diseases is malaria caused by a protozoan transmitted by mosquitoes; this infection kills over one million people every year. The word malaria comes from Italian and means bad air. People believed that the disease came from breathing bad air. Also, people feared night air. They believed that air from the swamps could enter through the windows and cause malaria.  They would close all the windows at night to prevent the bad night air from coming in. They did notice than most cases of malaria were near swamps. This led to the belief that is was caused by the decomposition of organic matter producing poison gas.

In an attempt to get rid of malaria, they would drain swamps. This led to a reduction of the disease, but not to the finding of the cause. In fact, it was mosquitoes breeding in the swamp which caused the disease, but they did not make the correlation for hundreds of years.

It is now believed that malaria led to the fall of the Roman Empire.

It was finally in the 1800's that a doctor, Carlos Finlay, came up with the theory that mosquitoes can transmit diseases. At that time, physicians believed that yellow fever, a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes, came from dirty surroundings. They would notice though that new cases of yellow fever would end with the first frost, but physicians would not make the connection at the time. Infected patients in Philadelphia were treated in the late 1700's by bleeding them -- a treatment that would send the infected persons quickly to their deaths.

The protozoa that produces the disease of malaria was finally identified in 1880 by Dr. Charles Louis Alphonse Laveran, a French army surgeon. This doctor received the Nobel prize for his discovery. In contrast, Dr. Carlos Finlay, who published more than 100 medical papers -- most of them on the transmission of the virus that caused yellow fever -- was ridiculed for his findings, credit was given to Walter Reed for the discovery, and it was not given to Carlos Finlay until 39 years after his death.

Finding the truth about a certain subject may take many years of your life, credit and money may be given to someone else, but the rewards of finding the truth is something that no one can take from you.

As Jesus said,
Luke 8:17
For there is nothing hid which shall not become manifest, nor secret which shall not be known and come to light.

John 8:32
You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Cholesterol

Cholesterol lowering drugs, especially a class called statins, are among the most widely prescribed on the market, bringing big pharma $33 billion a year. What if I told you that you would be dead if you had no cholesterol?

Cholesterol is needed by every cell in your body. It forms part of the cell membrane; it is used to form the myelin sheath of the nerves. Vitamin D is synthesized from cholesterol in your skin under the influence of ultraviolet rays. This vitamin is needed in the absorption of calcium, among other things. Hormones such as estrogen and testosterone, are synthesized from cholesterol.

"Since both (CoQ10) and cholesterol are synthesized from the same substance, mevalonate, statin drugs also inhibit the synthesis of coenzyme Q10."

CoQ10 is an antioxidant found in all cell membranes and mitochondria of the cells. It is mainly found in the heart, therefore, inhibiting the production of CoQ10 by statin drugs could seriously damage the heart.

Statins have many side effects. Read  The Ugly Side of Statins: What You Should Know. They could impair your memory: In fact, taking statins could lead to amnesia. Read the book by Dr. Duane Graveline - Lipitor thief of memory. It can cause a mental fog to take over.

How did the lie about cholesterol being bad for you creep up? It all started in the 1970's when they found cholesterol in arteries. The food industry came up with the idea that eating butter was bad for you. They substituted polyunsaturated vegetable oils and margarine, thinking they were avoiding cholesterol and in this way they were improving health.

They increased the amount of sugar in processed foods as well as trans fats, but heart disease did not improve. It got worse. What we are seeing is people in their 40's dying of heart attacks now. This is similar to the theory of malaria being caused by miasma or bad air. It took  hundreds of years for the theory of miasma to be proven incorrect. Fortunately, it will not take hundreds of years to prove that the theory of cholesterol causing heart disease is false.

A World Renown Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease. People are eating a lot of sugar and refined flour. This causes glycosylation of the endothelium of the blood vessels, which results in inflammation. It is the arteries that are damaged by years of poor diet which get cholesterol plaques. These plaques eventually calcify, but it is not due to ingesting too much calcium.  It is due to the opposite -- not eating enough calcium in the form of fresh leafy vegetables.  What is the mechanism behind this process?

Animals that eat a lot of grass will grow stronger bones because they eat vitamin k along with the calcium in the grass, and grazing in the sun they make vitamin D by being exposed to the sunlight.  Humans would also get stronger bones if they did the same.  Unfortunately, most people work inside buildings and are not exposed to the sun, therefore their vitamin D stores are low.  Many of these patients with "hardened arteries" do not do much exercise, which is needed to deposit calcium in the bones, instead of in the arteries, and on top of that, most of these patients have followed the flawed theory of eating margarine, refined white flour, and lots of sugar and fructose corn syrup.  They are not eating leafy vegetables full of calcium and vitamin k.

It is only when the diet is deficient in calcium that the body will "remodel the bones" and extract calcium from the bones.  This process is necessary for the blood to have the normal amount of calcium.  Bones therefore are a reservoir of calcium.  Patients that do NOT eat enough calcium will suffer from osteoarthritis, bursitis, calcified plaque in their arteries, and even renal stones.  All of these as a result of "bone remodeling."

Many theories about health and disease have been modified or totally changed over time.  The cholesterol theory of atherosclerois is flawed, and most doctors have changed the recommendations to their patients.  As time goes by, more physicians will become informed of the truth, but we must remember that big pharma has vested interests in selling those statin drugs, so it is to your benefit to find the truth for yourself and reap the benefits of a healthy body.  Do not continue on the flawed path to destruction.  It took the theory of miasma hundreds of years to be proven wrong.  As Jesus mentioned before, you can find the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
